Today, I decided to make the most of my commute time and take the scenic way to work. Usually, I take the freeways which are jammed packed and just awful! The scenic way is probably a little bit longer, but it doesn't have the traffic so it can take less time! It involves going through a canyon which has all sorts of quirky things to see in addition to being beautiful! Then I take Pacific Coast Highway and enjoy the ocean view!
While enjoying this beautiful drive, I cranked up the music, opened up my sunroof, and sang away, feeling really great about life.
That is, until I realized what I was singing to. Instead of my usual radio station, I accidentally turned on my daughter's cd. I was rocking out to The Chipmunks Squeakquel soundtrack. I must have had it on for about 15 minutes before I even noticed!
Maybe I am working a little too hard!
LOL - I can't tell you how many times I found myself listening to one of the kids CD's or iPod's and then realized I'm actually enjoying the music. Oh dear... please don't tell anyone.
ReplyDeletehahaha that has happened to me so many times...i would be driving down the road and humming away to some dreadful baby songs...!
ReplyDeleteLOL I haven't done that, but I have driven around with a dvd going.
ReplyDeletei've been singing Dinosaur Train and Thomas songs for weeks... I can't get them out of my head... the chipmunks might be welcome relief :)
ReplyDeleteLMAO!!!! I love it!!
ReplyDeleteI guess that just goes to prove that a lovely, scenic drive improves any music... even Chipmunks : ) I'd choose that over traffic any day!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that is too funny and reminds me of that car commercial where the guy is having a "guys night out" turns on the radio and is playing Barney! That drive sounds long but lovely, hope you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteSo funny! I've totally done the same thing with my kids' Music Together CDs.
ReplyDeleteHYSTERICAL! Also, the fact you EVER listen to the chipmunks with your daughter is a little disturbing... ;)
ReplyDelete@Cheryl, It is also bad when you have adult children who like songs with somewhat "inappropriate" lyrics and find yourself singing along to "F*** You" by Cee Lo Green. Fortunately I do it in the shower or the car, but not in Hebrew school! There is a more socially appropriate version (Forget You), but somehow that isn't as much fun!
ReplyDeleteI admit to cranking up a certain Raffi song that I was overly fond of and singing it by myself. Sometimes I don't notice what song/cd is playing until I'm suddenly singing "picking, picking, this is how we pick our peas" when I'm all alone...
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, but I think I would notice that!

this kind of thing happens to me sometimes. Except that all my bird will listen to is hip hop and rap music. She always makes me turn off my singer-songwriter/sad boy with a guitar music in favor of the bitches and hoes. Annoying. Still, I'd prefer Lil Wayne to Alvin, Simon and Theodore any day!
ReplyDeleteI find myself singing or humming to a lot of songs on Nick Jr. In fact, I love it, and it's usually my little boy who's telling me to stop. I guess it's a new phase of our lives :)
ReplyDeleteOh how I wish I could open up my sunroof and let a gentle warm breeze blow through my hair...I'm so envious right now. Enjoy.
Been there! When my boys were little and I worked full time, there would be times that I would be driving and end up someplace that I had no idea how I got there. I was in such a daze most of the time. Slow down, and take time for yourself! I know, easier said than done!
ReplyDeleteWow! That was you singing?? You were sure loud! I heard you in Tucson!! HAHAHAHA!!
ReplyDeleteMy ears are bleeding just thinking about rocking out to the Chipmunks.
ReplyDeleteme and dh caught ourselves singing along to the veggietales cd in the car after 30mins of our son being asleep.. and we knew all the words.
ReplyDeleteMusic is music. Whatever makes you sing!
ReplyDeleteUmm...because that's an awesome CD and it's on replay over here too!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny though. I find myself singing those songs throughout the day too. Good for you for taking the scenic route.
I laughed at this because I have to endure that EXACT same CD every morning on the way to work.
ReplyDeleteYeah, we tried kids cds, but my nerves couldn't take it. The girls could sing "Dude, Looks Like a Lady" when they were 5.
ReplyDeleteSeems like a lose-lose, huh?
I've never done that with my daughter's music, but the kids' movies are often better than anything else put out these days. I'll find myself discussing them in public. "Anybody seen Monster's Inc?"
ReplyDeleteI think that the Chippettes version of Single Ladies is far superior to the original.
